It's a great browser, and it supports good causes. It's frustrating that you can move from one app to another for specific features only to find the same feature in it again. I am unable to deal with this feature and will have to make another change. However, I switched to it because it had a tab grid. This was a great replacement to the chrome app. Ecosia features are superior to other search engines. It's a huge disappointment.Įcosia is a wonderful tool! Ecosia is a great tool! What better way to use those search results than to plant trees? Ecosia is the best search engine for everyday tasks like looking up information. Edit: The thumbnail layout was too distracting and didn't appear to be changing. If it does stay, I'll most likely need to switch browsers. It would be great if you made it optional. It was one of the reasons I started using the app. It's a huge disappointment that this browser switched to the grid view of tabs. Ecosia asks me to accept cookies each time I open it, changes my search settings everytime it opens and displays Google results in light mode, even though it has dark turned on. It appears that every browser uses this grid layout to display multiple tabs. The app has an excellent ad blocking feature, however it does have some annoying interface elements. As ads appear like mad and they are the first results on Google search, it is no longer possible to block them.
Ecosia dark mode update#
Visually, the aesthetics of this update are disgusting. Although their search engine is not as robust, the browser can still be used for local results.
It was very helpful to have an integrated ad blocking feature and the option to refuse cookies. Their work on climate change mitigation and deforestation is amazing.
This change could force me to switch browsers, something I don't wish to do.Įcosia has been my trusted partner for over 2 years. This change must be reversed or an option added so we can return to the original style. However, the recent update which changed multiple tabs' layout from a flip-through to thumbnails instead of a list of options was terrible. But now things have changed far too drastically. I feel that ecosia was once perfect, or very close to it. I still receive ads where they shouldn't. I wish that there were an option to disable the grid view of tabs. I used to be a huge fan of ecosia, and would recommend it to anyone who asked.
